The federal budget process is broken. Since 1985, Congress has only passed a budget by the statutory April 15 deadline four times. And for six of the last ten years, lawmakers simply did not pass a budget. Fortunately, the congressional Joint Select Committee on Budget and Appropriations Process Reform (JSC) is currently considering ideas to fix the budget.

The bipartisan panel must report recommendations by November 30, 2018. Proposals that receive majority support among members of each party will receive expedited consideration in Congress.
Fixing the budget process alone won't fix the debt, but it can help. Congress needs to know that voters want the JSC to succeed. Tell Congress this should not be a wasted opportunity.
