Today We Rang the Bell for Washington
by Rob Foregger on October 25th 2012
Rob Foregger is an entrepreneur, accidental activist, and Co-Founder of the Citizen's Petition to Fix the Debt from Stowe, Vermont.
This is a big deal.
In only a matter of weeks, the bipartisan Citizen’s Petition to Fix the Debt has grown to nearly 300,000 people and the world has taken notice: this morning I was privileged to stand with business leaders and Fix the Debt's Maya MacGuineas in New York to ring the opening bell at the New York Stock Exchange on behalf of the campaign!

The bell didn’t simply mark the start of the trading day; it represented a wakeup call for Washington.
How we answer that bell will have a dramatic impact on our economy, our global leadership position and the quality of life we leave to our children and our grandchildren.
Although I am a long-time entrepreneur, I stood on the podium today as an activist – and an accidental one at that.
The overwhelming response to the Citizen’s Petition in a short period of time is a testament to the growing voice throughout America for our leaders to work together and face our biggest challenges like we always have.
I am an optimistic person by nature, and I firmly believe that the U.S. can overcome any challenge it faces. But I also know that success is only possible through hard work, a willingness to take the initiative and by cooperating with others. That’s what this campaign is all about.
We all must answer the bell together. And there are many ways for you to get involved:

By standing up and standing together, we can ensure that the next bell is rung in Washington, and it’s rung in victory for the secure financial future of America.
Don’t forget, Inaction is NOT an option.
I’ve been sharing this video of other “every day” Americans’ views on the debt and my friends have liked it. Will you do the same?
