Day 2 at the RNC in Tampa: "Nobody Likes Being in Debt"
on August 30th 2012
Many speakers at the Republican National Convention are mentioning the national debt. We are facilitating a debt discussion outside the convention hall.
Yesterday, our team was on the ground again here in Tampa talking to voters, delegates, and political leaders about why it's so important that we come together and Fix the Debt.
The response has been overwhelming - especially from young people.
There has been tremendous momentum as we've kicked off the Fix the Debt campaign - growing from 0 to over 140,000 people in just a few weeks, and continuing to grow every day! But, honestly, it's difficult to truly understand just how strongly people across the country feel about putting the country on the right track until we talk in person.
Now we know.
Our volunteer Tammy may have said it best when she said, “Regardless of what issue brought you to the RNC, if we don’t get our debt under control none of it matters.”
Or maybe it was Richard who said of Democratic and Republican party leaders: "change your mind, change your views, listen to the people." It really doesn't matter who said it "best" - the point is that Americans have thoughtful opinions on the topic and they need to have their voices heard by the decision-makers in Washington.
Thanks to you, this movement is starting to make that happen every day.
